Dirty All Summer - "Oregon Lottery" (Single) TDRCO-225

Lotteries don't feel fair. They're stacked against you every time. Just like life, you barely even have a shot. Sometimes all you can do is keep showing up, even when you've been down, you're all alone, and the fog starts to settle in.

On "Oregon Lottery", the third single from Portland, Oregon experimental dreampop ultratrio (it's like a supergroup, but cuter) Dirty All Summer, the pace is mellow and the vibes are impeccable. We're waltzing here, as TDRco resident instrumental mentalist Mo Douglas joins harmonizers Ryan Massad and Mariya May to fill things out, lush tones cascading around the earscape. Each member of Dirty All Summer is responsible for solo albums and singles on TDRco with their own unique flavor - but something special happens when you cook them all up together, the overlapping territory of psych and folk gives way to a sort of collective soft jubilation, divining universal melodies from the cosmos. If you pull the right strings in a different order you could easily reach The Mamas And The Papas' "California Dreamin'" or Yo La Tengo's "You Can Have It All" - they're all coming from the same planet.

Lyrically, there's loneliness here, sure, but there's also the possibility of finding something that feels like home, of meeting someone down the road, of taking all those blows on the chin and still coming in last just to say, "I'm here to win." The odds may be terrible, but for a few minutes, Dirty All Summer makes it feel like there's still a chance. (Bryan Bruchman, 9/29/2026)
